The Snowball Fund was started on 09.09.09 in honor of Snowball a white German Shepherd. Snowball was counting down the few short days to his death in a city pound. Snowball's owner surrendered him as well as his companion a 8mo old puppy. They only had a few shorts days to live before being put to sleep. Courtnee and her friend Ashley drove over 9hrs one way to get Snowball and his companion. There was just something pulling Courtnee to Snowball.
The story unfolded that day and it is something Courtnee will never forget. Snowball was going to be her first death row dog. However, upon arrival Courtnee was told that Snowball was already spoken for. It appeared that the dogs to be put to sleep were all being saved but Buford. Buford was barely able to walk out of his kennel. He was very skinny and miserable.
Courtnee leaned down at Snowball's kennel. He was very stressed out, but in Courtnee's heart she found the answer that day to why she drove that far. Snowball woke up a deep drive inside Courtnee to save death row dogs. Buford came home with Courtnee and Ashley and became Jackson. Snowball was thanked and all Courtnee could do is hope that he had a good owner coming to get him. He deserved that. The impact that Snowball had on Courtnee that day brought about one more person set out to save death row dogs. The condition of that pound, the deafening screaming of the cats and the dogs begging to be saved. Images that will never leave Courtnee's mind. In Snowball's honor she started a fund to rescue death row dogs.
They each deserve a chance and they each deserve to have their stories told.
Your funds help transportation for dogs from death row to other rescues and also helps fund them while they are in foster homes if they remain with Painfultruth.org volunteers.
Dogs Saved = 16 - and we are just getting started.....
